How to use Magnolia and itb MeDaPro together

What MeDaPro offers

MeDaPro, a Product Information Management (PIM) system, offers you the capability to quickly and easily create catalogs in various publication formats. With centralized data storage, you save time and money as information is always up-to-date and available in one place within your organization.

One standout feature of MeDaPro is its ability to leverage existing information sources. Thanks to various import options, you can effortlessly import existing product information or supplier data, regardless of formats such as csv, xls, mdb, or electronic catalogs like BMEcat. Additionally, you can integrate MeDaPro with your ERP system to seamlessly incorporate new articles and information without additional manual effort.

MeDaPro's functionalities include Lazy Loading for large article inventories, multilingual support with a Translation Manager for global maintenance, and a Classification Manager for efficient organization. Furthermore, MeDaPro offers optional integration with ERP systems for the transfer of master data and invoice information.

Additional features of MeDaPro include previewing article groups in an editable layout preview, a temporary storage space for Word documents, configurable export and import filters, and a test import function in a staging area. The graphical mapping function simplifies data assignment, while the lightning-fast export ensures efficient processing. Moreover, articles can be linked through referencing for a consistent data structure.

Furthermore, MeDaPro facilitates the central maintenance and classification of all product information, from article descriptions to user manuals. Features such as inheriting article information and creating attribute lists for article groups streamline work processes. An elaborate rights management system enables deployment in complex corporate structures.

A standout feature of MeDaPro is its classification capability. The integrated Classification Browser provides an easy way to classify articles according to various standards such as ecl@ss, proficl@ss, UNSP/SC, and ETIM. Additionally, custom classification systems can be integrated, and the Classification Mapper allows for the assignment of product data to standard ecl@ss attribute lists.

With MeDaPro, you can effortlessly create assortments and catalogs containing custom selections or the entire range of products. Compilation is done simply via drag and drop, and when mapping content, you can flexibly determine the arrangement in the catalog. This enables the creation of not only paper catalogs but also electronic formats such as BMEcat or catalogs for B2B eCommerce platforms like TradePro.

Integration of Commerce Systems

Integrating a commerce system is, in general, not an easy task, but the complexity highly depends on the requirements you have. The biggest cost drivers are usually custom workflows or commerce systems and cms which don't fit the main goals of these workflows. You could use a headless solution with React, Angular or Vue which highly changes options to integrate 3rd party systems, rather than doing it the conventional way through SSR.

ITB, the company behind MeDaPro, is also selling a highly compatible ecommerce system named TradePro. It could be beneficial to use this combination and add Magnolia CMS for your corporate use cases.

Please bear in mind that we only show ways to solve specific needs, and we cannot go into every aspect of a commerce integration here. In this case, a green color is meant to signify not just a simple integration, but rather that it serves as a solid, supported, and tested starting point.

Development and module installation needed

Connect with the Commerce Connector Pack

The main focus of the Commerce Connector Pack is to connect magnolia cms to any type of PIM or commerce system that offers APIs. The central feature is to pick product or catalog information from these external systems and integrate it into magnolia-based components like carousels and teasers. Everything is done through magnolia's user interface, so you don't need to switch application contexts.

The module will offer you the option to choose any type of product information from MeDaPro and display it however you like inside Magnolia. You need to integrate it through a custom connector module, which could be integrated through Magnolia directly or an implementation partner of your choice.
